Prince of Darkness
The Domain of Darkness is often associated with the moon, and any other time the sun is not out. It is mostly seen as an evil domain wherein creatures of the night such as vampires, werewolves, and lepricauns would start to act. Many scary stories make children fear the night, but once they truly learn that the mother of the night would not let children astray it slowly grew into a place of safety for some.
Current Prince
The most recently known prince to rule over the domain of darkness is Nary, the Lunar or the Prince of Night depending on who you ask. Nary was always a melancolic child seeing the darkness as a place of comfort, where she'd often hide away from those who would bully her and torture her. The princess of darkness as she was often labelled due to her willingness to hide and dark clothing choices was really a kind hearted girl, who took a fascination with the night sky and would always attempt to track the stars.
Her death came in the form of an accident, as she was meant to go horseriding with some of her "friends" they thought it funny to cut the saddle to a degree where it would allow her to slip off and fall, which is what happened, her landing on a rock breaking her neck upon impact. Once her wary teary eyes opened again she saw the creator in front of her, bestowing this child a second chance at life... now as a mistress of the night.
Common Worshippers
Common worshippers of this prince are those who have turned to the dark themselves. Anything from thieves to assassins to vampires and werewolves. The moon is a clear symbol that can often be found upon the princes' worshippers as tattoos or similar. Alongside the children of the night, who often have a leaning towards the evil side of the alignment spectrum there are some good and neutral people in there.
Religion
Religions dedicated to this faith find themselves few and far between. It is most common in vampiric societies or other places where the undead thrive closely. As such rituals shown by these types of religions often air towards feeding those undead that need the blood of the living to survive. I've seen normal people be elevated to the strata of noble only to be executed in a gruesome ritual that 'gives blood back to the gods' and the vampires that executed it, of course. Religions with this prince at as their chief deity often have tenants as such:
- Ritual Cannibalism
- Mankind is blessed to have been bestowed with the spark of the divine. Human flesh is therefore sacred, its presence something to be savored, not buried or burned.
- Astrology
- The night sky is our window into the realm of the divine. The great secrets and mysteries of the world are written there, open for all to learn if they know where to look.
Culture
Places that hold a culture associated with this prince at its heart often are those within undead societies. Where undead are allowed to roam free, necromancy isn't shunned. But you'll be hard stretched to find someone willing to bring a dead creature back as their soul will have passed on to the mother of night, where they believe it should stay.
